Trailday @ Stony: Pump Track Construction

Nick September 22nd, 2007

About 15 people showed up today @ Stony Creek to help with the first official trail day at the new Skills Park. Most of the work on the pump track was completed, with just a little work left before it’s finished.

I want to thank everyone for coming out and helping, and especially to Pete who brought out his jeep with a nice pump system on a trailer, so we could spray down the dirt to make forming the hills easier, and to help pack the dirt. The park also helped by parking a tanker truck with ~ 500 gallons of water for us to use. Don and Mike from the park stopped by to see our progress.

Check below for some pictures from today. Keep you eyes/ears open for announcements of more upcoming trail days.

Stony Skills Park: Trail Day!!!!

Nick September 18th, 2007

We are having our first official trail day for the Stony Skills Park on Saturday September 22nd at 10:00AM. We will be working on the pump track construction, and also working to mark the locations of the holes for the stunts (Stony Creek will be using a tractor mounted auger to drill the holes for us)

There will be coffee and bagels/donuts in the AM, and will be breaking for pizza around lunch. Come check out the newest skills park in Michigan, and what could possibly be the largest pump track in the state!!

The skills park is located directly across from the enterence to Eastwood beach. You’ll see a dirt driveway leading back, and the skills park/pump track will be about 100 yards back on the left. Google map showing the location.

Stony Skills Park Update

Nick September 14th, 2007

Dan and Tim met with employees of Stony Creek on Thursday 9/13 to move some dirt at the new Stony Creek skills park!

Using a front end loader, the employees of Stony Creek moved ~100 yards of dirt, making short work of getting all of the dirt placed for our pump track. They were also able to get some dirt placed to start the FR loop that will be going in this fall also.

Tim posted some pictures of the work that took place. Thanks a BUNCH for taking time off work and helping us to move this project along. Keep your eyes open for announcements here and on the MMBA forums for some upcoming trail days at the skills park.

Here is the first dirt moved around 8:30 am.
