2008 Addison Oak Chapter Benefit Race

Metro North August 28th, 2008

The annual fall XC race at Addison Oaks is coming up on September 21st, but there are some changes this year. Oakland County Parks have decided that they no longer want to be the main promoter of the race, and so the Metro North chapter of the MMBA will be running the race as a chapter benefit. A few of the MMBA chapters have been having races over the past few years as a way to raise funds for the chapter budgets, and they have been quite successful. We hope to follow in the same tradition in the Metro North chapter, and we are quite please that we were able to take over the management of this well established race.

An event like this requires planning, volunteers and funds. We’ve got a small committee who’ve been working on the plans (if anyone is interested in being part of the planning committee, let me know), and I\’ll be sending another email out as we get closer to race day, asking for volunteers to help things run smoothly. A chapter event like this wouldn’t be possible without a great deal of help from volunteers.

There are also ways you can help right now. We are looking for friends and businesses who can help by sponsoring this event. We’ve created a sponsorship proposal which details the benefits of sponsoring this event. If you know of any local business who might be interested, please consider approaching them for sponsorship (or maybe you would like to be a sponsor yourself).

The proposal can be found here – and while we do have suggested levels of sponsorship, they are just suggestions and we’re willing to work with anyone.

We thank you in advance for any help you’ll be able to give us with this race, and I hope we’ll see many of you out racing or volunteering on September 21st!
